Ordered A CZ

Well, I done did it. My rationale? If Sir Henry can own CZ rifles, then so can I.
Anyway, I ordered a CZ 452 tonight. Not sure how soon I will get it. A friend at the range has let me shoot his a couple of times, and I am hooked. If the one I get is even half as good a shooter as his rifle is, I will be happy as a pig in mud.
Hopefully, I will soon have pics to post.

I've never even seen one in person, so I live through those posted here and elsewhere.
I am very impressed with their accuracy.

I think the CZ 452 is one of the best rimfire bolt action firearms ever made. Which model of the 452 did you get?

It's a 452 American. Supposed to arrive at the FFL on Friday.
The one my friend at the range has is a short barrel model. It has a threaded barrel and also has iron sights. I imagine if I tried to find one like his, it would be pretty pricey.

Great find!
The CZ 452 is a superb little rifle. I can't remember seeing or hearing about a really bad one. I don't know why CZ have stopped producing them in favour of the 455, but I suppose they know what they're doing.

I have an American, Scout, Trainer, and a FS. All are in .22LR but I also have duplicates in .22WMR and .17HMR on some.

I picked up the new rifle today, but have not been to the range yet. First impressions? First, the positives. Seems nicely made and precisely made. A very nice traditional walnut and steel bolt action rifle. Trigger seems pretty good. Wood? I didn't want the wood lottery, didn't even get close, but it's still pretty walnut, with nice checkering.
Negatives? Kind of picky, perhaps, but two things. The finish on the stock, while attractive at first glance, is on closer examination a bit fake looking. I had a 1980's Winchester 94 like that. Whatever the finish is, it will likely be impervious to pretty much everything, and will not improve with age. I prefer wood finishes that get better over time with the help of a bit of Ballistol and/or high quality wax. Second, the bluing looks nice now, but it does seem a little "thin." I can't really fault CZ for that. For whatever reasons (cost, unavailability of traditional bluing chemicals...?) no firearms companies seem to do good deep blued steel any more.
Cant wait to get to the range and seem it will shoot.
