Peep sight for my Marlin

Post by bandit1250 » Fri Aug 19, 2016 7:11 am

I put a Williams FP peep sight on my 444 Marlin last evening. I wanted a peep on this one as I have a scoped one if I want to use a scoped one to hunt with. I lined the peep up with the rear open sight to maybe be close on target to save a few shots. If it was sighted in with the opens which I figure it was because it never was scoped it may help a little on sighting it in. I need to get things ready because I may hunt the early Pa. antlerless deer season we have in late October for Junior and "geezer" season. (I don't qualify for the junior but I fit the other category.) I am not sure if they still have CWD tags left or not but I may try to get one more tag and then sit out buck season again this year. I go for the meat and no interest in antlers plus the bucks smell bad to my nose. I have bullets from 200 gr. up to 300 gr. to load up and try in both 444's. The 270 gr. Speer seems to be a favorite along with the 265 Hornady with shooters on Marlin Owners Forum. I fired a few 300's last year and they will get your attention when loaded up with full power loads. Here is my 444 I put the peep on. It got dark on me because I was shooting the English Sparrows that come in to roost in the evenings. I was using the Crosman 1322 pellet pistol I added the rifle stock to. I didn't think the 444 would be a good choice on the sparrows.

Looks good bandit. ;)
Love my t-4.
Your right about those 300+grainers.
Got a Lyman 300 gr. mold, but the last few batches have come out at around 317. But will say they put a hurtin on what ever is on the receiving end of 'em.
Hopefully my second t-4 will be an outfitter.
Hope to here soon how that one preforms.
Congrats.
