Mini 14 at 200 yards

Yesterday I wanted to run my Mini 14 loads over my chronograph. Since the 100 yard line at the club had a couple of other shooters on it I decided to use the 200 yard line for my chrono results. This is because it takes me quite a bit of time to get set up in order not to shoot my chrono. :D The 200 yard line is rarely busy and I had it to myself yesterday. I put a target up to be sure I was shooting thru the chrono and not at it. I wasn’t shooting for group but of course I fired every shot with max accuracy in mind. Looks like my result was about 3” which is 1.5 MOA at 200. About the same results I got at 100, 1.5 MOA. Note my group is 5” low which is to be expected with my 100 yard zero. I’m thinking that’s not too bad for a Mini 14 which is not known as a 200 yard rifle.

Good shootin with your Mini 14 at that distance! I don't think I can see a target at 200 yds unless 6 ft. tall!
I have one as well and no issues after several years.

Oops, I forgot to mention the 3-9x scope on it. With sights I too would need a 6 ft tall target.

I think they are fun to shoot. They have a unique sound all their own. Yours looks like a straight shooter in your hands.

not bad at all with most rifles and for most shooters .... I've almost bought several Mini 14's and now regret not doing so

Nice shooten! I've never tried my mini out that far and like everyone else, without a scope it ain't gonna happen. They are fun guns but I know my hundred yard accuracy starts to open up real fast after about 10 rounds. My mini is an early 80's vintage.
