I have one of these in a 338 Win Mag. 338 is an awesome round and this Savage of mine is a great rifle.
https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting-gea ... e/p/p42242 Ive got a Burris 4.5 x 14 scope on it. Ive mainly shot factory ammo through it. I like Barnes Vor-Tx ammo and this Savage shoots it well. A couple of years ago I bought two boxes of just the bullets. TTSX 225 grain Barnes Bullets. At that time factory ammo was around 40.00 a box. I played with reloading for it a little but just figured since I only use it for Elk hunting I would just use factory ammo. Well now since ammo has gone way up and things are scarce back to the reloading bench I went. 62.00 a box for ammo made me pay attention. Today I went out to the grassland to check some loads. I had a bingo on the last load I checked. Savage rifles have always been one of my favs. They turn out some good accuracy. I also shot the 50 cal Hawken today.Nothin like makin smoke on the prairie.
