Re: Winchester 1892 357?
I own one, Miroku, 20" carbine. I really like it. I put a Marbles tang sight on it. It works well but I need to get a taller front sight for it. Nice firearm. I paid $932 (new) for mine through Buds.

I've ordered a Marbles site supposed to be for this model. Did you need any drilling done?Shakey Jake wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2019 9:20 amI own one, Miroku, 20" carbine. I really like it. If it's a tang sight and you have a forward screw hole in the tang you won't need any drilling.I've ordered a site supposed to be for this model. Did you need any drilling done?
It seems the last Miroku I looked at had the forward tang screw hole.

Re: Winchester 1892 357?
I had a gunsmith install it since mine has the safety. I'm not going to take it off to see but looks like he may have had to drill and tap one hole.Ojaileveraction wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2019 11:50 amI've ordered a Marbles site supposed to be for this model. Re: pictures Winchester 1892 357?
PICKED up the 1892 yesterday. Went over it last night.
I think it's unfired.
Only wear was the top of the hammer were the bolt rides opening hammer.
Not a dent or mark on the stock
Cleaned the receiver barrel totally clean.
Waiting for the Marbels Tang Sight.

Re: Winchester 1892 357?
FYI I had to make an "add on" for the top of the front sight for mine. I just used some carbon fibre rod and 5 minute epoxy. A little filing and some white paint to top it off.
Jake.

Re: Winchester 1892 357?
Just handling it and getting used to it right now.
Levering it feels like a Marlin 39a maybe because of the rebounding hammer.
Running my mock-up bullets through it, I found It is more sensitive to cartridge length than the Henry.
Firm levering required.
I really like those thin Marbles sights.
p.s.
The shell keep popping out of the wrong spot. They keep supersizing me.

If i have to change the front sight I probably get a taller Marbles with another 1/16 bead.FYI I had to make an "add on" for the top of the front sight for mine

Re: Winchester 1892 357?
I'm not much of a peep sight fan but I do have a rife with a tang peep that I really enjoy .... that really looks like a solidly built peep .... looking forward to your continued reports
Re: Winchester 1892 357?
If you havent used one of those before Ojail they take a little getting use to. At least they did for me.

Re: Winchester 1892 357?
The peep sight part I got. I think. I have seven lever guns using Williams sights. It is more what do I do with my thumb. The crescent but plate helps with the hold.
26 inch sight radius, I really like that.

Re: pictures Winchester 1892 357?
That looks like a nice sight. You didn’t want to do a Skinner in the dovetail? I tend to like a longer sight picture too, but I would be worried about the tang sight snagging in the bush. Not a concern if you aren’t taking it hunting I suppose.Ojaileveraction wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 6:41 pmMarbles Tang Sight came today.

Re: Winchester 1892 357?
I'm setting the rifle up for Pistol Caliber Silhouette. The need was for an easily adjustable site that was repeatable. Though the site does folds down and back without affecting the adjustment.
