My 220 Swift
I took a break from working on my home a few days ago and went to the range with my Savage 112 220 Swift. I wanted to check its zero to be ready for some crow shooting. This rifle is a great shooter and with the free floated barrel it holds its zero well. Nothing different on this stop at the range except having to be a little stingy right now on how much ammo I shoot because it may still be a while before my reloading room is back up and running again. I hate to have to watch how much I can shoot because of not be able to load more back up. I have about 50 loaded rounds for it right now so I should be alright until my bench and press is back in my room. I only fired three at 100 yds. but they were all good ones.

Re: My 220 Swift
I had a Ruger 77 varmit barrel years ago and shot priarie dogs with it all the time. I should have not ever sold that rifle but hind sight has always been 20 20. Al

Mine liked the sierra 53gr match bullet and IMR 4064. Dont remember the weight of powder but I think it was in the 37gr area. Al

Re: My 220 Swift
This load was a 52 Hornady A-Max and the old surplus H-414. Pushes the 52 a average of 4000fps plus or minus a few fps. I will be sick when all my old lot of surplus H-414 is gone or my barrel gets tired and needs replaced. 4064 is a great powder for Swifts and 22-250's. Next in line for accuracy with this Swift is H-380 which is about as accurate as H-414.BigAl52 wrote:Mine liked the sierra 53gr match bullet and IMR 4064. Re: My 220 Swift
do you find that with the speed generated by your Swift that your bullets pretty well explode on contact .... even with a 22 LR I have some uneasy feelings about how far a bullet can travel
