336C Marlin 35 Remington

Post by bandit1250 » Tue Sep 13, 2016 7:53 pm

My nephew stopped by today and wanted to sell his Marlin 336C. I tried to talk him out of selling it because it is a very accurate carbine and also is a slick feeder with 35 Remington cases loaded with 357 pistol bullets. It actually grouped slightly better with Hornady XTP 158gr and 180's than 200gr. rifle bullets. He said he is not going to deer hunt any more because they don't really eat the meat and he is busy on his job and don't get a vacation. I told him I would buy it with the understanding he could borrow it if he changes his mind on hunting and also told him he can buy it back any time he wants for the same amount I was giving him. He said that was good but he doubts that will happen. It is a JM made one and I have shot it before so I pretty well know what to expect from it. He killed some deer with it using the Hornady 180's I loaded for it and it done a great job with DRT and the bullet did exit with a very large exit wound for a small capacity round. He wanted $400 for rifle and scope.(4x Leupold) Here is a picture from this evening which by the way the weather now is great compared to all the heat we just had.

Good deal for a great JM Marlin in a good deer hunting caliber, especially for this area. You got it at a good price too.

Everything lines up just about perfectly in your photo.
The level top of that fence post is what did it --- great shot!

Nice hunting rifle in a very good caliber.

Nice photograph. Where is that Pyramid located? Definitely something there. Perhaps a conspiracy. lol :D

That was a nice thing you did for the nephew. Good for you.

Nice to be able to help your nephew out and get a new toy in the process. And with your offer, he got $400, but really didn't lose anything. His rifle is just staying at a different location.
