218 yard with marlin sbl and vortex

Post by BruniX » Sat Mar 14, 2020 4:11 pm

With all of these coronavirus problems here, all clubs are closing for an unknown number of weeks. :?

Fortunately, I was able today to go with a friend for the last day of opening of the only shooting range in the région which has a shooting range of 200 meters (218 yards),
in order to make the second adjustment of my riflescope, very recently acquired, a vortex diamondback tactical 6-24X50. :

It is installed on a Marlin 1895 SBL :

(not very conventional, I know :D , but ... fun !)

loading:
330 gr HP full lead Bullet, made from lyman mold #457122
Lyman 457122.jpg

Powder: IMR 4198, 37 grains
Starline case
primer CCI 200
Medium crimp

The first time this was quite difficult, not enough clicks to compensate for the fall of 45-70 !!!

So I bought a 20 moa picatiny sloped rail (i don't know if it is the good translation , apologize....) , to be able to gain in adjustment limit of the scope.

After adjusting to 110 yards , and put the scope to zero with this adjustment, we moved to range 218 yard.

It was much more comfortable this time, and I am not at the maximum of correction.
After 6 shots, to correcting and adjust the scope turrets clicks:

i'm happy, it was only the third time i shoot with a riffle

Next step, 328 yards ...

See you soon !

You have to be feeling good BruniX.
Success with ammo you made with bullets you made.
My Williams sight on my CB is bottomed out at 200m plus a little. For the 300 yd Gong I have to hole high about 3 ft plus or minus.

That 330-grain HP Bullet you created is impressive! Always like to view your loading results.
Good shooting, BruniX.
