I guess I got over being afraid to paint a gun when I painted my $1700 Beretta O/U. It doesn't bother me any more because I know if you are going to use it for hunting when you strip the paint back off the bluing and stock still look great unless you fall and gouge some thing up. Put 22 years of fall through winter hunting with a fully painted Model 7 223 Rem. and I stripped the paint off and traded it in on a Sako Hunter the dealer said " I can tell this thing seen very little use."
