I sure do like these new T-Bolt Targets

Al, I had one of the new T bolt 22 LR Targets and also the new T-bolt Sporter, but they didn't survive our big cut in the gun collection a couple years back. The handling of the Target was actually very nice, not at all heavy and clunky as Target rimfires go. Wasn't too heavy and bulky for offhand work at all. Very accurate, of course. Trigger was sharp and crisp, though a bit on the heavy side. It is adjustable for pull weight, but only slightly so. Got mine down to about 3.5 pounds.

What I didn't like was the plastic rotary mag. Some folks think it is easy to lead. I did not. I think the Ruger rotary is easier. Not a fan of the plastic trigger guard housing, either. The rotary mag also makes for a fatter gun in the stock, same as the rotary mag in the 10/22 does.

Me, I still prefer the trimmer handling of the original T bolt with the old standard metal magazine. That's why our 1966 Belgium T2 survived the cut. Will never sell this one. These original T bolts are getting very hard to find, now, especially the early Belgium made versions.

Came with the factory peep, which often went missing over the years.


Ended up adding the classic 4x Leupold Rimfire Gloss. Dresses up the T bolt and maintains the nice handling.


The new T bolts are still great guns, though, just not quite the same as the originals in some features. T bolt accuracy, though, is the same, new or original. That hasn't changed. Definitely CZ bolt gun class, meaning half inch or less at 50 with the right ammo and shooter.


As you know, going 22 mag can make accuracy less predictable, though. Have had many 22 mags over the years, but never knew what I was getting till I got out and shot them.

Mine is the HB varmint model. It's not ported by shoots very nice.

Thanks NCG and Jake. Ive seen some of the older ones for sale on GB but hadnt thought about one. I dont mind the fatter stock with my hand size. I have also always been fond of the 22 mag and dont currently own one. But they also make this model in 22LR. Ive looked at the CZ 457 with the extra barrel. One in 22LR and one in 17HMR. But the CZ is a 24 inch barrel. Not sure I want one that long.

Al, the originals were made in a lower Grade T1 and the deluxe T2. Just a matter of the nicer stock with checkering on the T2. The first ones were mace in Belgium, then production went to Miroku in Japan for the last portion. You'll probably spend about as much for the old ones as a new one, though. An original T bolt in good condition typically runs pretty high.

I bought this one from Cabela's in Indiana and had it shipped to my store in New Mexico. Pleasantly surprised!
Absolutely beautiful 22 mag but that magazine is a real pain to work with. The trigger is pretty sour too. Guess it will just take some getting use to.

Nice maple there Saga. Sorry to hear about the magazine. Ive read some reviews both ways. But you and NCG have both told me the mags are a pain in the rear. Might be a good thing to shy away from. I dont think Jake mentioned anything about it.

My Browning t-bolt 22 mag is a beauty but not user friendly for me. I will sell it soon I think and move on. I would much rather shoot this Cz which I have 3 different caliber barrels for, the magazines are easy to load and it has a great adjustable trigger.

That’s a beautiful CZ and I don’t blame you there. Ive been looking at both. Ive always liked the full stock but they are hard to find and when you do the price is out of site. Im currently looking at the 457 combo which gives you 22 lr and 17 hmr

I don't find them annoying. It took a few minutes to figure out that it's much easier when you use the thumb screw!

This one shows up on Guns International and you can order other caliber barrels for it. The CZ FS model is getting very hard to find.

I like my CZ 457 much better than the other 455's I have, but CZs are great rifles.

Thanks Doc. I go there from time to time and look there. But I will not do business with a person who uses the money order or certified check payment plan. For one there's no buyer protection and for 2 the USPS will never get another cent of my money. I have had 2 MO lost in the mail and you wait 60 days and then pay them to file a claim to get your money back. If a Certified check is lost in the mail there is just to much red tape to go through to recoup the funds. Lots of these guys wont take a personal checks and I can understand that but the option to hold the firearm is always there

When I do change barrels the scope is pretty darn close. I usually settle on one barrel as a favorite for each rifle so do not change them very often. I have 4 CZ 455s and 1 CZ 457 and all barrels interchange except for the 22 cal fluted barrel thumbhole stock 455. I have 5 extra barrels in all.

Don' t overlook the CZ Scout 457! They have a short barrel and are very handy. Threaded barrel for silencer also. Many collectors on other forums claim they are the most accurate of all of their CZ rimfire rifles.

That link I posted to the CZ Varmint is the one I would get if I buy a CZ. That one now has bid up past retail price of a new one. I dont need one that bad that I will pay that much for one. Savage makes a real nice BRJ in 22mag that I know will shoot very well. Savage rifles are very accurate
