Sure does look like a nose/thumb weld to me. We were shooting cowboy loads this day, so the recoil was incredibly light. Not to mention the barrel on this rifle alone weighs a good bit, which significantly reduces perceived recoil. No broken noses were had that day, and the rifle was shooting incredibly well.

I don't think people realize how accurate you can be with this hold. I built my .22LR Small Game Carbine to shoot like this. The way he is holding the receiver is also important. I bought a youth stock for it and can pull it in even tighter.

My plan is to own an H011 in the next few months. But they had to make it more challenging with Iron frame version. I'm seeing prices of $1895 for brass locally. Bud's listing is $1695. Anybody finding lower prices? This Henry is a stretch of my budget, but I feel it's like having a part of gun history. Ammo is averaging $50 a box, so it's not a plinker. Anybody tried black powder loads?

Dan, Thanks for starting off this area. Those are beautiful rifles.

I was privileged to see the Henry Original next to a genuine Henry Rifle on the coffee table at the taping of Gun Guru's in 2014. Henry sponsors the show and they were interviewing Mr. Imperato. He explained how he made the rifle the same way as the Original. It was fascinating.

Thanks Dan, now I know what my next Henry will be. It is truly a beautiful rifle.

My absolutely favorite part of Henrys (other rifle brands, too) is the wood furniture.
And the wood stock on the H011 you showed us is simply beautiful. Someone got a real gem there!

I am super excited about the 45 Colt 1860 original rifle, and CANNOT WAIT to get my hands on one. What a beauty! I keep staring at it on the HRA website. I'm like Wayne from Wayne's World staring at the guitar in the shop..."oh yes, it will be mine." Way to go HRA!

thanks for bumping up this thread, I've enjoyed reading through it again .... to me the The Original Henry Rifle series is beautiful .... I know the are built to use but for my use, I prefer other Henry models .... I've never owned a "wall hanger" rifle and don't anticipate ever doing so but that is what the Original series would be for me .... I'd really love to fire both the 44-40 and 45 Colt ....

Ranch Roper will get his before I get mine. Now that the .45 Colt is out, I think that would be my choice too. My problem is every time I get some funds saved up, something pops up that is more important. Good thing I'm learning patience.

I'm counting down the days until it's available in Canada. That will be my go-to rifle. I came close to ordering one instead of the Big Boy but the 44-40 stopped me due to ammo availability.
No butt cover on my 1860, just as is with that beautiful brass and wood sticking out of the scabbard. I can see it now.
Now THAT's an old west cowboy rifle.

You have three great Henry's, Dan. The pics are excellent, despite the weather - thanks for sharing them!
