Forgot I owned one.

Post by Bish1309 » Mon Dec 12, 2016 10:03 am

While shoveling for the third time this weekend, as the mind was wandering I remembered that I had an air gun pistol that I used to use to scare rabbits out of the garden years ago. I can't recall the last time I had shot it.

After dark and finishing the last of the snow removal from yesterday's final snow fall and digging it out of the stash location, I put a bb in it, pumped it a few times, took aim from inside the garage at my plastic mailbox, pulled the trigger and I'll be damned, it ricocheted right back into the garage. Woohoo, it worked and still fires, let alone is still fairly accurate.

Thought I'd challenge myself and took aim at something a bit further away. I'm the second house from the corner where a stop sign controls the traffic flow.

Pumped it a few more times, took careful aim and DING. Got it. It was louder than I thought it should have been so I quickly closed the garage door and went back inside smug as a bug.

Now I'll just keep it with the rest of the gang.

Being in town it's about the only thing I can shoot without getting in any legal trouble, I think. 8-)

I bought a CO2 gas pistol for indoor use, but it was louder than the 9mm's I used to own, so it got sold quick quick.

Oh yeah!!!

Just standing in the garage door opening with it down at my side while cars would drive by made me feel renegade.

Tonight I took a good look at my air gun since I didn't really know what it was. Fairly impressed since I bought it back in the early 80s.

It's a Crosman American Classic 1377 pump style pistol.

I went looking for some reviews on YouTube and all of the videos were showing one with a traditional style bolt action design with a lever. Mine was an earlier version apparently before that as it doesn't have a lever but just a breech cover that rotates and then pulls back the breech pin. (I have no idea what I'm talking about, there.) I also have only shot BBs through it. No pellets that I recall or at least I don't think I have any currently.

I found it's also highly modifiable which is intriguing but it's doubtful I'll put any mod money into it.

Sorry I don't have any pictures to show. I left my phone at work today. That was a first.

Hopefully I can get some pictures in the next several days.

Thanks for reading.

That looks like a whole lotta fun, Bish. ;)

How many times do you have to pump it to get a good shot?
