Colt 45 fun with the Henry carbine and Ruger BH Bisley....

Post by fortyshooter » Tue Mar 04, 2025 8:01 pm

One of those good early Spring days popped up and I needed some range time and woods walking so off I go with the Henry carbine 16.5 barrel and the Ruger BH Bisley both in 45 Colt. Both have the ghost ring type sights and both seemed to hit in same spot on the paper from 15 yds. with the Ruger and about 30 for the Henry my typical range steel plinking distance. Was shooting my 255 gr. MB bullet SWC with the gold standard 8.5 gr. of Unique hard hitting on the steel and looked good on paper.
Was GREAT to get out again and enjoy the woods! Line of strong storms coming thru the area tomorrow so today was the day!

Mighty fine, hard to beat the 45 Colt for fun and it is a great adversary if need arises.
Good looking pistola, forty.

That’s an interesting looking rear sight on that Ruger. Sure does the job, nice shooting and I’m hearing the steel ring in my head. (Of course there’s lots of little noises in there  )

When I bought the Ruger from another guy it came with that sight on it and it makes for quick focus on targets for the old eyes.

I've been trying to get out and shoot myself, I'm guessing I'll get another chance soon. The seesaw weather has let me sneak in one sesson, and the heavy rain a couple days ago turned the range into a hazard, but maybe tomorrow.

Looks like a good day on the range for you. Lot's of fun and good shooting.
Always good to keep a hand in. Lol.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can't do anymore with regret, I just look forward to the things I still can.
