Re: Guess what I just ordered...
I have been researching and found out that Pedersoli makes the barrels for the Uberti 1885 rifles. Interesting.

I think the 1885 rifle is where reloading will benefit me. I may be able to experiment a little. Right now I am loading 250gr to just above minimum powder charge, but may be able to push it a little. We'll see what the books say.

I'm not surprised based on some of the posts I have read elsewhere that Italy manufactures actually make guns for each other. Chiappa for example sells a Sharps but this is supposedly made by Pedersoli.

So you think the gun manufacturer might provide certain guidelines as well?

No idea, I will just research and read everything I can to see what people are loading and shooting. I assume this single shot action is stronger than the 1860 Henry toggle link, but need to research.dddrees wrote:RanchRoper wrote:I think the 1885 rifle is where reloading will benefit me. Re: Guess what I just ordered...
thanks for the info .... I've simply had zero interest in single shots so I haven't bothered to try and learn anything about them .... from a history buff's view, I have enjoyed doing limited reading about early Sharps rifles

Re: Guess what I just ordered...
That falling block action on the 1885 will take alot more than the toggle link. You can probably load some Griz loads in that one.

I see, I thought you might have some knowledge with regards to that already.
