Why not put a red dot (or green) on a single shot. Anything that helps you get on target faster and more accurately is what I call; mo-betta. :D

What power scope would you recommend for a .357? Or do you prefer red dot sight?
Do you always shoot at the same distance? Variable power scopes are variable for a reason. :) I prefer 3-9x by 40mm.

Just ordered a Red Dot, will try that once my scope base comes in. I like a scope most of the time, but with a short range rifle like the .357 a red dot sight should work fine. If I even think I will be hunting at long range I will take my .243 or 30-06

Effective range depends on the ammo. .357 ammo is available from Buffalo Bore, and a couple others that is effective at 200 yds. Or you can roll your own. Anyway, just a point of interest. I have dots on other pistol caliber rifles that I like, so I'm pretty sure one will work for you. :)

I have both Vortex Striker 1-6x24 and a Leupold 3.5-10x40mm.
With my eyes the Vortex 1-6x is good out to 75 yds or so. My only regret with this one is not getting the 1-8x so I could be decent at 100yds. THe Leupold is a good scope, but I have to back from 10x some. With my shakes the image is too jittery at 10x. I also have a Vortex red dot, which I'm not too happy with. I can only really use it out to about 35yds for any accuracy.
