Scalping is already over?

Boy that sure didn't last long. About 6 months ago Gunbroker had Homesteader listings at well over $1000 and I believe some were in the $1299 range. A cruise on Gunbroker tonight shows a bunch of Homesteaders in the low to mid $700 range. The ones that make it to the salesrack around here don't stick around long so it would seem they are selling well. I know that mine is a plate rack monster with the Burris FXIII and I really like it. :D

Was in Sportsmans Warehouse yesterday. I didn't even look at the price of the Homesteader I handled for a little while. Not really in the market for a new gun right now but the Homesteader certainly could go on the short list. Also looked at an All Weather 45/70. Don't need or want a 45/70 but an All Weather in .357 is a little bit higher on the short list.

I would like one in stainless or All Weather, to go with my 10/22 Takedown, but it is currently illegal in WA with that very dangerous threaded muzzle.

Now, if they'd only produce it in 10 mm or 45 acp! How about both!! That would make it hard for me not to buy both of them as I already have an original 1998 Ruger PC4 in .40 s&w and it's a ton of fun to shoot. As I handload both calibers as a part of the 7 pistol and 9 rifle calibers but don't even own a 9 mm, the current Homesteader isn't of interest to me.

I'd love to have a laminate version too. The wood on my unit is getting beaten up. I have a 1985 Browning BLR that is in a better shape.
A quality laminate does not warp and can be very hard, ding resistant. I'm okay with either winter/mountain gray laminate, or wood-color laminate, as long as it uses a good glue and base wood.

I don't care for .45 in a long barrel weapon. The 10mm could be interesting, although personally I don't have a use for it.

As far as the scalpers calming down "already" or "finally", the serial numbers are past 20,000 now. That is a large run.
