Make it in 45 ACP please!
Re: Make it in 45 ACP please!
I've been shooting 10 mm out of my custom 6" slide Glock 20 I developed back in 2004 and so for me too, it's not a new caliber. In fact I'm interested in either a 10 mm or .45 acp as I don't own a 9 mm anything. A .357 mag is the smallest pistol bullet I shoot and almost 100% of those are out of leverguns.
I'm very curious to see how much increase one would expect out of a 16" barrel vs my 6" custom as BBI shows only a 134 fps gain (1,307 - 1,441 fps) with the the Cor Bon 165 grn and only a 145 fps gain (1,428 - 1,573 fps) with Buffalo Bore's 180 grn loads. Those gains seem low to me as I've chrono'd my 'nuclear' 165 grn loads out of my custom Glock at 1,579 fps so I wonder how fast they would be out of a 16" barrel.

Re: Make it in 45 ACP please!
I picked up about 200 fps with the Ruger LC .45ACP 16" barrel over what a 5" 1911 will do with the same loads. With full power loads and 230 gr. XTP's or Gold Dots my Garmin chronograph would clock in the 1050 to 1100 fps range out of the carbine. Full power 200's ran close to 1150 fps.
Since the 10mm is a much higher pressure cartridge I would guess the velocity increase would be greater.

There is quite a few new videos on YouTube testing the new Ruger. Saw one that had a 400fps increase over a 1911

There may be some advantage to load with slower burning rifle powders.

Not a good idea, however, using something like Longshot, CFE Pistol, or 800-X or other powder originally developed for shotguns but now listed for pistol calibers provides the slower burning rate.

This is not a thread about revolvers. And, you're repeating yourself:The Happy Kaboomer wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2024 9:38 pmAS UGLY as henry revolvers are(and NO adj sights)........I don't ANY caliber would ever be a big seller............LOTS nicer stuff out for about the same $$$ they are asking.
