Quite the machine. Nice little toy to have around the house, right?

I’m amazed at how much work he did in two billing hours with included 15 minutes of drive time each way.

Here is the side view. I can shoot across it. It’s 25 yards from where I’m standing.

The back side. The berm is maybe 20 feet across at the base.

This shows part of the cutout on the hill. I’m going to get a lot of erosion each winter. The Branson should be able to clean it up each spring. The D6 was working hard to cut the hard clay. What I’ll be cleaning up in the spring should be loose stuff.

That's one big berm. Wow!
Interesting that your area has clay. Over here in the lake country, it's all sand interspersed with ridges of gravel and littered with boulders. We're in the area where all that was deposited by the outwash from the melting glacier. There are a few farms in the area, but not much in the way of soils for farming. The main crop over here is timber and, of course, tourism and resorts.

Timms Hill has a lot of clay which doesn’t erode easily hence it’s higher. It’s the lower areas that have more topsoil. If you travel five miles from the hill the average land is 400 feet lower. Even though the hill is the highest it doesn’t have a lot of relief.

Nice job. Having run a D-7 once when my late friend worked for Container Corp. in Waycross Ga. it is amazing how easily those things can move the earth. I have two D-7 pistons in my loading room and they are about the size of a gallon paint can.

Nice Berm. I would like to build mine up more, but I am in no huge hurry.
We had tried to get someone to do some dozer work here, but the estimate was too high, probably because the first part of the estimate was two hours transport. Hour here, hour home. Then our neighbor told us that the estimates of the time required and the hourly rate were greatly inflated. Unfortunately the local dozers are tied up with the major water line going thru our area, they are all booked and have been for the last couple years. The few that aren't are picking up all the construction work. Small projects are pushed aside.
The water project was supposed to take 12 to 18 months, they have been at it two years and expect at least another two years. They did not expect to encounter Oklahoma's dirt, like concrete. Has really made trenching and digging really time consuming. The pipes they are laying are HUGE, more like tunnels.
We wanted to widen the creek where it approaches a culvert going under the road to reduce the water pressure. We also wanted to expand the pond, and deepen it. THAT would likely require an excavator rather than a dozer. We have been told our spring fed pond may need the spring cleared out, as it's now half the size it was when we closed on the property two years ago. The ad and the property description says, Spring Fed Pond. It should remain at the same level. Has been our experience with that type of pond in the past.
Guess those projects will have to wait unless we get lucky.

The D6 has been on projects all summer that takes it up to 100 out. Then a month ago he got a month job a mile away. He did my job today between his bigger jobs. He is the son of my 97 year old friend. We take turns taking care of her while he works the dozer. Tomorrow I’m taking her to Medford.
