With the possibility of some rain on Wed and/or Thur I’m planning on heading up the to property to do some mowing. It’s still very dry around here so I plan on limiting my mowing to the upper part which doesn’t have many rocks to hit and possibly creat a spark. The lower part is next to the creek and is very rocky so I won’t mow it this trip. We want to head up there week after next for some grouse hunting and plinking for several days. The weeks are pretty tall and mowing this week will help.

So I removed the loader and installed the rotary cutter. My tractor won’t fit on my trailer with both plus taking the loader off saves weight. I plan to leave the mower up there as I don’t need it here at home, no fields to mow. The loaded is a quick mount and is pretty simple to take off and put on. Excellent engineering by John Deere.

While I’m there I’ll also do weed spraying around the rv pad and building

Not sure if I’m going up on Wed or Thurs and since I’m playing golf today I got everything ready yesterday. Besides, I was bored and needed something to do.

Monday I bush-hogged the last of the food plots and today, I planned to spray glyphosate on all of the food plots. Fortunately, I tested the sprayer before I left home and unfortunately, I discovered the 12V pump would not work.

Even though I am fairly meticulous about cleaning the sprayer with fresh water after each use, this one gave up the ghost. I spent most of the day searching for a new pump and by the time I found one that would work, it was too late in the day to begin spraying. As Scarlet O'Hara said "Tomorrow's another day."

Have you priced glyphosate recently?

Nice one. I'm in envy. Mine is a 1980's 955 model and looks it's age.

Nice looking setup Hatch. I have a similar size tractor, a Deere 3520. That trailer is a very nice thing to have as well. You need the double axle to carry the weight of these machines. I have a single axle, and it doesn't quite work for the tractor.

And I'm with you HenryFan about how expensive glyphosate is. I try to buy it when I see it on the clearance shelves at Tractor Supply, but haven't found it there much lately. It's sure not cheap, but it sure does work.

I read an article in the most recent "The Furrow" magazine, a John Deere publication, about how some weeds are becoming glyphosate tolerant. It's a concern to me and I only maintain food plots. It must be of significant concern to an actual farmer.

I have too much to get done to do a complete range set up break down but I plan to at least bring the Henry 327 FM to check how well it wil cycle my 32 H&R reloads. Grouse season open up in four days so I’ll probably see a dozen.
