As of 2022 Deer Park had a population of 4,484 but I’m sure that has grown considerably. Starting in 2020 with the George Floyd riots and continuing with the covid scare the new home building here has exploded. This area is real attractive to folks moving from big cities like Seattle and Los Angeles as it’s very safe and Washington has no state income tax.
For a small town it’s pretty diverse. The median age is 36 and 87% are white. 2% Native, 2% Islander, 2% Asian and 6% other. Median income is 56K with 21% below the poverty line.
In my opinion Deer Park is pretty much a bedroom community to Spokane for those of us who tire of life in the big city. We moved here in 2004 after years of living in the north suburbs of Spokane. It’s a really nice community with lots of activities year round and is very peaceful. We have a large grocery store, Ace hardware and lots of banks. Several auto parts stores and our little jewel is Bi-Mart which is a smaller department store chain throughout the west. From beans to bullets and shoes to tv’s. My favorite store for sure.

Us too, the city of Spokane is slightly Democrat and the county of Spokane is slightly Republican.
I live in what used to be a small town, population was around 20k when I was kid in the 60's, now the population is around 120k (actually we're 2 separate cities divided by the Columbia River but it's really just like one city).
Yes I can. I spent 18% of what I sold my house for a house in Wisconsin. But then my house here is half the size. Then again I have more land and bought more. Plus I’ve added buildings. All said I’ve spent about a third and when done I’ll have about 40% into it here.dave77 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 7:33 pmI live in what used to be a small town, population was around 20k when I was kid in the 60's, now the population is around 120k (actually we're 2 separate cities divided by the Columbia River but it's really just like one city).
When I was a kid there were small mom and pop stores everywhere, there were 4 within walking distance of my house. Now they're almost all gone, we now have 7/11's, many supermarkets, a Walmart and a Costco, also Amazon just opened a "last mile" distribution center.
Lot's of people moving here from the west side of the state, either retired or able to work from home. They can buy a home for a fraction of what it costs over there (Sir Henry can attest to that) although we are catching up, I feel sorry for younger lower income couples, a nice 3 bedroom house is now 500k so not likely they will ever be able to afford to buy one.
