223 Single Shot On Order

Thanks in part to some grade-A enabling from my fellow forum members (you know who you are!), I finally broke down today and ordered a 223 Single Shot. Northern/Reeds had one on GB that I believe has some nice woodstocks. It's a very early production model (S/N 00021), so that could be good or bad, I guess.

Anyway, plan on using the very nice, new 3-9X40 Nikon Buckmasters that Markiver very carefully packaged and sold to me, and I'm going to follow TractorTad's lead with the Talley Rail/Ring combo from the HenryPride site.

Really excited to try out this round at some 100 yd targets!

Atta boy Evan one more to the how many total. Not to mention it might get you off the hook with the Uberti shame purchase

.
There's no shame felt in the 'Uberti Rush'. As PT7 put it:
"Uberti rush" was a little like the excitement of the "Gold Rush," especially with those sharp-looking colors on the CCH Six Guns. :) Those colors glistened and shimmered, like water flowing over gold nuggets in a rushing stream. It panned out great!

Atta Boy ESquared! It should be a nice one. It'll be interesting to see how the trigger/hammer spring weight is; my two digit serial number 45-70 was fine (about 4 lbs) right out of the box. Otherwise, there's plenty of help on that issue around here :) .

On another note, Reeds annual Rice Creek Gun Fair is coming up, April 26-28, near Little Falls, MN. Attend at your own risk, seems like I always buy something if I go - and I always go ;).

First, it's a really good thing I don't live closer to LIttle Falls, MN. REALLY good thing.

And thanks for your Attaboy. I was wondering if the trigger/hammer pull/spring thing was production-date related. Interesting to hear that your early production 45-70 was so spot-on. Hmm. But, you're absolutely right about spring assistance. BigAl has already volunteered to send me one of this Grainger springs if I need it. We will see. Among my Henrys, my 357 BBS is the standard-bearer for triggers. It's so clean and just the right pull-weight for me.

Now I need to Google-Map Little Falls from KC...

You will definitely need the Grainger spring, Evan - I'd take Al up on his offer....

Welcome to the single shot club, Evan. You picked a great cartridge to start in the 223. The 223 is kind of like the 22 LR of the centerfire rifle world. Right at home for 100 yard work.

Yep, I figured as much. Will move on that as soon as he returns. Thanks for your help on the scope mount and cheek riser!

Thanks, NCG! Never thought I'd end in this club, that's for sure, but the comments have been so positive and the value seems genuine. Can't wait to try it out!
