Just bought .410 lever 19” mostly for my wife if something goes bump in the night.

If I’m not home she has easy access to S&W revolver but i ask her just to stay on the far side of bed facing the bedroom door with the Henry across the bed aiming at the door and allow intruder to show up at door. My thoughts being she would do more damage (hit) with the .410 and triple shot buckshot than .38.

Now my problem is where do you keep that shotgun?
I would just like it next to her nightstand against the wall and told hell no.
Note: No children in the house and we are in our 70’s the reason for .410.
Where do you people keep yours?

Welcome to the forums first of all.

Are you planning to keep a round in the chamber or just the tube? I would recommend just keeping the tube full. What is the likelihood of an intruder coming into your home? Do you live in a high crime area, an urban area, a suburban neighborhood, or out in the country?

I see no reason it couldn't be propped up against the wall on her side of the bed if that's where she will make her defense. It's a lever action, leave the chamber empty. Like a pump action shotgun, chambering a round with the lever action may solve the problem without shot(s). If not, it gives her time to wake up and know it's not you.

P. S. I don't leave loaded firearms in my home. I find no need to. I figure I can load one pretty quick if need be.

Maybe her side of the bed and under it, laying on the floor on a piece of carpet if you have hard floors.

They make various racks or cases that are held in place by the side rails or the mattress and would let you hang it on the side of the bed. But, as someone else suggested, under the edge of the bed on the off side from the door which is the best defensive position anyway, is where I would suggest if she has an issue with in the corner beside the nightstand. (Which, leaves it in sight of repairmen if you have to have someone in the house for service. Under the bed is less noticeable.)

I (We) have a firearm or two around the house, but they are not in plain sight, except for the shotgun and rifle beside the back door for coyotes and feral dogs that keep taking the guineas and chickens, and WERE messing with the livestock. We got rid of the livestock, but still have fowl. If we are going out for any length of time, I put the long guns in the safe.

How about .410 in a Derringer?
