I got out to my happy place Sunday. It’s pretty small water in a rural Indiana setting. I brought about 10 fish to hand, mostly smallmouth with a couple of Rock bass. Best was this 16” fighter that came on a Blue Fox silver spinner.

Love trout, but my favorite fish has always been the Smallmouth.

Stream fishing of any kind is good for the soul. Glad you got out.

After reading your post, I decided to try out this stream locally that comes from a dam. Been meeting to. I fished it before but I really didn't go far down stream. So I packed up and set out. There was a trail that I followed that came and went. More likely a game trail as I did see hoof marks. I would stop at likely spots for awhile then move on. Very quiet, peaceful except for a darn heron that landed about 5 yrds from me. Scared the crap out of me. I kept going until the trail disappeared and the bush got to thick. Started back and got almost back to the trail head and decide to drop a line, I took one step and I was on my butt hard. MY right leg was bent at about 90 degrees, trapped in the rocks. My knuckles were bleeding. I laid there wondering if I broke any thing which I didn't. I figured out how to extricate myself which entailed me to scoot down the bank head first hoping I would not slide all the way in. Anyway, got back up, gather the gear and limped back to the car. I must have been a sight to the walkers on the trail. Today my knee is the size of grape fruit and hurts like all get out. I might have to get it checked out. My wife said I getting to old for walking the woods off the trails. Who knows, will see how I heal. And to add insult upon injury, I left my favorite fishing hat back there. My daughter is coming over today, maybe I can convince her to look for it. She lives about mile from the dam and it is not far off the main trail. More or likely the grandson will talk her into it. He is an adventurous 8 year old.

Sorry to hear that Wiz. I know what you mean about age changing tactics. My River crawling has morphed into cautious steps. Hope you get your hat.
