Re: Beef Jerky Recipe
using CT's recipe given earlier in this thread we added one item .... that being instead of using water to dissolve the ingredients prior to pouring them over the beef, we used a generous amount of Kikkoman Soy Sauce .... talk about a good aroma coming from the dehydrator .. .. really looking forward to tasting it in a few hours ..

Re: Beef Jerky Recipe
After the first four hours, I check it every hour; really only checking the top tray; and I have never rotated the trays or rearranged them. I just set it and forget it. Like yours, my dehydrator is circular so the heat and air flow are evenly distributed and consistent.
I'll be making some on Sunday. I like the idea of adding a little soy sauce. Did you adjust the amount of salt because of it?

Re: Beef Jerky Recipe
there is most definitely a hint of Kikkoman Soy Sauce .... that I like .... salt isn't overwhelming but I believe it wouldn't hurt to cut back a bit .... had to mop more grease than usual .... no clue if that is related to the Soy Sauce .... all in all, its good .... we will fix it again .... tomorrow we will put another batch of Teriyaki flavored beef put in the dehydrator .... so far, its our favorite

Re: Beef Jerky Recipe
the last of the Jerky we plan to make before leaving for Texas should come out of the dehydrator late this afternoon .... once the stuff is cleaned up, it will be packed and put into the camper .... it will make great "truck food" during our drive ..

Re: Beef Jerky Recipe
just finished filling the trays .... in an effort to intensify the Teriyaki flavor I added a good deal more when we were mixing the spices into the hamburger .... as such, its on surprise that the moisture content of the mix is much higher than any we've put into the dehydrator .... it will be interesting to see how much time that adds to the drying time .... for us, making Jerky is still a learning process ..
