Nikon P22 2-7x32 rimfire found

I know there are some Nikon scope fans here that will appreciate my score yesterday. A guy on the local trader page offered up a nearly perfect P22 2-7x32 rimfire with both the standard and high velocity turrets. He was asking $125 including rings and I couldn’t pass it by. Other than he lives in Post Falls Idaho about 40 miles from me and I had been in Post Falls just the day before. So he generously offered to mail it to me and paid for half the shipping.

Not sure what I’ll put it on. My Marlin 39-A has a Weaver Classic 4x on it that looks very nice on a lever action. I have been wanting to increase the magnification on the Marlin and this will do that. Except, I’m wondering how a target turret scope will look on the classic Marlin. I’ll decide when I get the scope. Otherwise I have a 10/22 and ironically it has the Nikon P22 3x fixed on it and the 2-7 will be a nice improvement.

Good problem to have. As most know these Nikons have been discontinued and are somewhat desirable.

We have a Nikon on the CZ 455 and it's a great scope. Nice find.

Great find. I had a P22 2-7x at one time, but sold it off. Now, of course, I wish I had kept it, along with a lot of other Nikon scopes I've had over the years. Yeah, those turrets might look a bit tactical on a Marlin lever gun, but the optics on these Nikon rimfire scopes go a long way to make up for looks.

In agreement with NCG I mounted the P22 on my Marlin for the improved optics. It does look a bit tactical but the ground squirrels won’t notice.

Before and after, Weaver Classic to Nikon P22.

I have two Nikon Slughunters. The 1.5X5 is on the White Whitetail .451 and the 2X7 sits on top of the new Henry Single Shot .357. Both are outstanding scopes.

Either scope looks good on that 39. Hatch, what base/rings are you using on your 39? I've been having a devil of a time finding a base that works.
Mine is a 39A that is drilled and tapped. Thanks.

Hi Tom,

The mount in the picture is a Weaver #90. If fit’s 39-A’s with the round barrel. I don’t recall the difference but I would expect if your 39 is factory drilled and topped the #90 will work on it. The rings are the Burris Zee ring. I like these rings as they fit Weaver bases but are steel and much slimmer than the Weaver ring. Not a big deal on a 22 but they look nice.

Thanks Hatch! I might just have one of those. Need to dig around. Then, get proper rings. Thanks again.

^^^^^^^

That scope looks perfect on your Homesteader. The 50 yard parallax should be perfect.
