First gun sale
First gun sale
When my son passed, I was left with a few firearms I didn't aquire for myself. I've never sold a gun. What I get, I keep.
Not so with one of his pistols. A PX4 Storm in 40 cal. Really not my style.
So, off to the LGS. He will sell it, for 15% is that a decent charge? I know nothing of gun sales. He's a good guy and I like supporting him.
Any body here interested?

Re: First gun sale
Not a fan either, I have sold and traded only a few.
I have gifted the kids with a few over the years.
I'd say 15% would be fair.

Re: First gun sale
Most of the consignments around here are between 30 and 40% sale price. From the shop's perspective, it's a lot easier and more profitable to simply encourage people to sell the gun to the shop versus consignment.
so yea, 15% is a heck of a consignment fee. It's a good deal.
FWIW, I've two PX4's, one full-size and one compact. I like them both. The LTT px4 compact is my daily carry gun.

Re: First gun sale
So, that went well. Less than two weeks to unload an 'unpopular' caliber.
LGS Did it quick and painless. Yeah, not what it was worth. But, done and gone. Money in the bank.
I'm looking at other venues to unload some other items.
Any suggestions?

Re: First gun sale
Good thread, as I am considering selling off some of my small collection.

Check you local areas for a local guntrader site. Then of course bone up on the state requirements to privately sell a firearm. For example here in the Spokane/Coeur d’alene area we have this site.
