Revisiting the orientation of posted photos from an older topic. Never did a real good summary of that discussion. Lot of investigative detail there. Too much really.

So here is a summary table of how to hold your camera or cell phone when taking a photo so that it likely posts correctly. Results using a Canon Rebel and Android Phone.

Thanks Mags. I've struggled with this. Will experiment.

Thanks to Mags! It was he who helped me get it right quite a while back when I was having trouble.

Let me add one.
With this camera, orientation is irrelevant.

Thanks for the chart, I finally figured it our by trial and error but it’s nice to have a diagram. Well done!

I had my dad's 3.5F, just like this one. Great camera. Passed it on to my niece recently as I don't shoot film anymore.
I do rather prefer the rectangular format of 35mm, but the 2 1/4 negatives were big enough you could crop them six ways to Sunday and still have lot of resolution left. I loved printing from 2 1/4.

I used a 4x5 view camera for most of my professional commercial photography. We even had a 8x10 view in the studio.

I always wanted to try my hand at a view camera, back in the day. I could cough up the money for the camera and lens, but not the 4x5 capable enlarger.
Sorry Mags, I didn't mean to derail your thread into a different direction.

No worries on that. Side rails are often, like this one, very interesting.
