My health has not been the best lately. Between heart and a diagnosis of Parkinsons this summer didn't think I would get out. Thank the Lord for good friends who lightened the load this year. I took an 8 point buck yesterday with my Browning BLR 308 Lever rifle. 220 yard shot and immediately went down. My friends took it from there. Who knows maybe one more season. We will see. Holiday blessings to everyone.

congrats on the buck but even more for having good friends who helped make it possible .... my 308 BLR is the first rifle I bought for myself ... it is one of the first generation, Belgium made rifles .... deadly accurate with an incredibly smooth action .... its the rifle that got me interested in lever actions which eventually brought me to Henry

I had a Belgium made BLR in the early 90's. Wish I had never sold it. This one is made in Japan.,but very accurate. Always liked lever guns, so now I have Browning, Henry, Uberti 1860 and 1866 Yellowboy 38 sp. levers. Enjoy them all.

I think that this meant as much to your friends as it did to you.
And my gut tells me that you were probably one of those "friends" in years past, and that you get the full circle nature of these things.

Congrats on the buck! I can relate to your post. At the ripe old age of 77 and after joint replacement, diabetes and 5 bypass heart surgery, I can still get around in the woods fairly well BUT... the macular degeneration that's been stable for 10 years since the diagnosis has flared up in my left eye. I'm right handed and right eye dominant so still shooting okay but I am also at that stage of the game....Maybe one more season.

BTW. Got an 8 point with the Xbow but so far no opportunities with the .44 X Model.
