Have you checked your local Craigslist? I see pure or wheel weight lead for sale all the time, it usually goes for $1+ per pound. I sure would not like to ship a whole bunch, unless it would fit in a USPS flat rate box.

This isn’t near you, but it is a good example.

Well, that is a pretty bad indicator, it sounds like a supply issue, lead keeps popping up here on CL, but these pure ingots are up to $3 per pound now. I would keep looking for used lead sinkers or weights. Or just bite the bullet (reloading joke) and pay the extra $$. The reloading world is pretty messed up.

This makes a whole lot of bullets….. but at least it takes less processing than scrap lead.

I believe the last primary lead smelter in the U.S. closed in 2013.
Lead has been getting tighter and tighter since.
I am sitting on about 1,200 pounds right now and would not consider selling any. Maybe for $5 a pound!
Anyone who thinks they might want to have the ability to cast bullets in the future ought to be scrounging lead now!
