You're welcome. The 48th Lyman doesn't have it either.BigAl52 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 20, 2025 1:04 pmThanks for that Mags. I have the 49th Lyman manual but it doesn’t mention anything about Unique in mine for 38-55. It does mention 4227 and 2400 in the 375Mags wrote: ↑Sat Sep 20, 2025 12:50 pmI did a little bit of looking. Appears that 10gr Unique could be about right for a lighter 245gr cast bullet.
Lyman 44th (1967). 7-9 gr under a 249 gr cast bullet.
Also here is a quote from CASTBULLETS (April 2008)Lyman 42 says 10.6gr Unique with a 250gr cast bullet for 1310 fps
Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook says 7.0gr to 9.5gr Unique with a 249gr cast bullet (975-1170fps)
RCBS Cast Bullet Manual says 8.0gr to 9.0gr Unique with a 250gr cast bullet (1033-1176fps)
We had issues. There is someone taking care of things. The site may be up and down for a bit.

Annealed 2 gallons of 40sw and 2 gallons of 45 acp brass to draw down into jackets.
I Drew down 250 pieces of 40sw brass to .375 jackets.
off the top of my head.
40sw brass .836"
40SW brass drawn down to .375 jacket .956"
10mm drawn down to .375 jackets 1.17"
I'm setting my dies up to run 45acp brass down to .452 jackets.

Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
Loaded up some 375 win with 270 grain flat base spitzers.
Started with 23 grains of benchmark, and worked my way up to the max of 29.6
23 grains 1328fps
29.2 grains 1470.8
29.6 grains average of 5 shots, 1513.9 FPS and 1367 FPE.
I'm well below the listed FPS, but Gordon's and the primers indicate I'm at the maximum with Benchmark. I may have to try with IMR 3031 or IMR 4198
I did get some other factory seconds and .375 bullets in today. 250, 270s. I'll have to do some ladder loads to see how I like them. As it sits, every bullet I've loaded, 200, 240 swaged, 250 swaged, 270 has been spot on accuracy-wise out to 100 yds.

So, does that mean you did all the above twice

I hate when I do that, but if go into the edit mode there is a way to delete the post entirely.
I decapped a bunch of 357, then threw those and a bunch of 38-55's in the pin bath.

Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
loaded up tester rounds 38-55/375 win for the following
Barnes 270 grain tsx,
sierra 250 grain sbt
sierra 300 grain sbt.
Lol, not much room in that 300 grain sbt. it was at 2.61 inches. 2.615 is the cut off for the loading gate on the marlin 336. Though technically i should be able to single feed 2.6 + .3450 (bullet jump distance)

Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
I'm going to load a few of the 250 grain sierras again. This time I'm going to use Pyrodex RS....

Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
So, 5 shots 250grn sierras over 36.8 grains of RS by dipper. 1015 to 1090 fps. Nice for subsonic, just not consistent enough, or fast enough. I was hoping for 1400 to 1500 fps.
