I have a Henry Side Gate Lever Action Rifle. I want to reload some 450gr bullets and find what powders are good for this bullet.

Anyone who loads their own ammo should have at least two different loading manuals to gain information from. The Lyman Cast Bullet Manual is a good place to start.

None of my manuals or online sources have load data for 450gr bullets in 45-70. There is data for 440 and 460gr.

"The Complete Reloading Manual for the .45-70 Gov't Spiral-bound" is the best I've found .... the link below is to Amazon, other sellers may be cheaper

460 Gr bullets might be somewhat excessive. Most of the handloaders I hunted with in Maine never went higher than 405 gr. Candidly, moose hunting carrying a .45-70 is somewhat limiting because heavy lead bullets progressively lose their accuracy once they pass through 100 yards. They are fine for quick shots of 75 yards or less (swampy terrain), but achieving a .45-70 humane killing shot at 150 yards is more luck than skill. In Maine, .30-06 rounds of 165 to 180 grs (BTSP) take more moose than any other rifle caliber.
