He was good but he cannot IMHO hold a candle to Hank Williams Sr. I rate Merle to be as good as Willie Nelson. As for Johnny Cash well I count him as an equal to Hank Sr. George Jones too.

He made some beautiful music. He was from a time when singers didn't just start their career on stage. He lived a working man's life, made mistakes paid his debts and made amends.
